Leave No Trace Spotlights Skate Creek area


The Leave No Trace organization selected the Skate Creek area as one of 20 Spotlight sites for 2023. As outdoor areas are impacted by record use, this new initiative from Leave No Trace shines a light on communities rising to meet this challenge.


The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team visited Packwood on July 14-16 hosted by partner Gifford Pinchot Trash Force and Pinchot Partners to deliver onsite education and stewardship programs. The events were free and open to the public.


Friday, July 14, 6-8 pm: Packwood Community Center Park, 12935 US 12 Hwy - An evening of fun and learning, including family-friendly games and activities. Participants learned more about how to protect nature and the outdoors.


Saturday, July 15, 10am-2 pm:

Packwood Saturday Market - Sheryl Hall, Janene Ritchie and the Leave No Trace team tabled at the Market with fun swag and educational materials.


Saturday, July 15, 6-8pm

Outreach and Trivia Night at the Packwood Brewery, 12298 US-12. The social hour and trivia night gave folks a chance to learn more about how to Leave No Trace and protect their favorite places while hiking, camping, and enjoying the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.


Sunday, July 16, 11:30 am to 3 pm

Volunteer Clean Up Stewardship Project

Volunteers gathered for campsite and trash clean up near Skate Creek.
