Pinchot Partners Host First Virtual Public Meeting
Updated: Oct 11
Morton, WA – The Pinchot Partners will host a Virtual Public Meeting taking place through Zoom Webinar on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 6-7pm, featuring presentations from the Pinchot Partners, the U.S. Forest Service; and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
The Pinchot Partners are proud to host their first virtual public meeting to the communities of the Cowlitz Valley. This meeting will introduce the public to the mission and projects of the Partners, with specific focus on economic and practical outcomes from the 2019 Wake Timber Sale, a partnership of federal, state, and county agencies through the Good Neighbor Authority. Presenters include Janene Ritchie, Pinchot Partners Coordinator; Nikia Hernandez, Cowlitz Valley District Ranger, Gifford Pinchot National Forest; and Sean Tran, Restoration Specialist with the Federal Lands Program at Washington State DNR.
A program resulting from the 2014 Farm Bill, the Good Neighbor Authority brings together state and federal agencies to help increase the pace and scale of federal land treatments, using more efficient processes and collaboration to achieve economies of scale to treat larger areas across previously segregated ownership boundaries. Good Neighbor Authority allows Washington State DNR to hire and collaborate with local companies and interests to perform a variety of watershed, rangeland and forest restoration work across state and federal property lines, providing additive capacity to federal partners.
This public meeting is free to attend and was funded through grants from Washington State DNR and Mosaic, whose mission is to amplify the power of the environmental field by bolstering critical infrastructure. Please register in advance at www.pinchotpartners.org.
