| Pinchot Partners Board |
Board Chair, Taylor Aalvik Taylor, a member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, was born in White Salmon, WA. He spent his early years in Cook, WA; remote locations near the southern portion of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. At the age of 9, he moved to Newfoundland, Canada. While there he spent much time living off the land in a remote location. He returned at the age of 17 and graduated from Columbia High School in White Salmon, WA. Taylor then went on to college and graduated with a Biology Degree from Eastern Washington University in 1996. He worked for the WA Department of Natural Resources for two years and then returned home to the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. He is currently the Director of Natural Resources for the Cowlitz Tribe and completing Graduate studies at Washington State University in Environmental Science and Regional Planning. He comes from a very long background of family who depended upon forest lands for survival and consider it an important part of his culture. Taylor joined the Pinchot Partners as a representative of the Cowlitz Tribe in the summer of 2008. It is his hope that the unique upbringing, different perspective, and technical background will help the local community of Packwood find stability and future positive outlook while maintaining a healthy forest for generations to come. Board Vice-Chair, Butch Ogden
Butch Ogden is the Southwest Regional Manager for the Washington Conservation Commission. He joined the Commission in 2002 as the Central Washington Regional Manager after serving as District Supervisor in Cowlitz County for eight years. He has farmed all his life raising poultry and cattle and worked in the timber industry. Butch is a graduate of the Washington Ag Forestry Leadership Program and is also a 37 year member of Washington State Grange.
Board Treasurer, Bill Little
Bill was born on the opening of fishing season in 1945, during WWII. His Grandfather was a game warden in the Cowlitz Valley. Bill graduated from Morton High School in 1963. He went to college for awhile, worked for Boeing, and then in the woods for about 25 years. He took a job in the mill after working in the woods because he didn’t want to be a tumbleweed anymore. Bill ran as union rep 1992 and was elected. He serves as the Treasurer for the Pinchot Partners.

Red Rogers
Red has a lifetime of experience in the forest products industry. He has seen a lot of forestry work go and come, and has seen the benefits of it. Red would like to further the Partnership's interests. He would like to become more active in creating job opportunities and would like to explore the potential for private grant funding as the extra federal monies floating around are likely to disappear. There are millions of dollars in forestry work to do that he would like to see done on the forest. Red is also retired, so available just about anytime!

John Squires
John is the third generation of his family to reside in Packwood, with his wife Liz and 2 daughters Brook Elizabeth and Zoë Rae. John cuts firewood in the National Forest and sells it in campgrounds in Mt. Rainier National Park. He spent the 1990's working to restore salmon and steelhead to the upper Cowlitz basin, and is proud that 4 species of anadramous fish now occupy the upper Cowlitz basin and that the ongoing restoration effort is proceeding with good results. He is also an avid fisherman and has been known to catch a fish or two when he isn't attending the numerous meetings concerning the non-profit organizations he is a part of. John is a charter member of the SW Washington Provincial Advisory Committee and a charter member of the North Gifford Pinchot Resource Advisory Committee. John believes that collaboration and finding common ground, like what the Pinchot Partnership is doing, will be the way to insure the economic and environmental health of his community. Through this process of working together, he believes that the future for his daughters will be one economic opportunity in Packwood as well as a healthy environment in which they can work and recreate.
